Band Bio:
Having taken the British live circuit by storm during their incendiary Ripped Up tour, alt-rock trio Talula are back in the studio working on a new opus, another milestone in their musical (r)evolution. With producer Joe Gibb (Funeral for a Friend, Million Dead, Brigade) at the helm, their fresh offerings will form the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2006 ‘Ripped Up and Violent’ EP, produced by Paul Reeve (Muse). This will be the culmination of years of hard graft, friendship and creative purpose of singer/guitarist Jake Hitchcock, bassist/backing Jamie Kearns and drummer Alex Maynard, who formed Talula in 2001.
The bands’ sound has developed into something hard, something visceral, and yet effortlessly soulful. Jake’s lyrics - by turns vitriolic and achingly beautiful - are underpinned by gargantuan guitar assaults and their trademark steel-solid rhythms and richter-9 bass. Within each track a mini-epic can be found; messages of rage and redemption are spat out alongside melodic punk-inflected choruses and rollercoaster dynamics.
And what of the live shows? Ask anyone who has seen Talula, and they will tell you that they have witnessed something truly special, something truly awesome. With the crowd ever in their stranglehold, Talula execute their raw, sweat-soaked anthems with an emotional urgency that goes unmatched by most acts that lay claim to rocking the stage hard. This is the real thing: thunderous and destructive to behold, yet shot through with measures of tautness and precision. It comes as no surprise that Talula’s fanbase continues to skyrocket and that they have been personally asked to open for Muse twice on their recent arena tours.
As their sound breaks out of the underground, Talula are set to attain stratospheric heights.
With their triple-edged sound, the trio are surely set to soundtrack the lives of those whose paths they cross.

  About Consolation Prizefighter

"IT STARTED ON A WHIM AND BECAME A BAND."
Consolation Prizefighter came together out of a mutual appreciation of having an open mind & a willingness to push ourselves to do things we haven’t done before. We don’t boast of writing and playing anything that will invent a 'CRAZY MUST HAVE SCENE!' and change the world of music, but we like to feel we create 'good music' and enjoy slicing together a mish-mash of styles into one song or piece of music. We became a full band when Al returned from working in London and the much-needed low-end was competently filled with a bass & friendly face. With the wheels well-oiled Consolation Prizefighter had their first gig half way through 2005 and have gone on to play many self booked and organised gigs around the country. With not only the seven track mini album ‘Clemency’ on sale and selling at gigs now, CPf are currently recording their first full-length album entitled 'Share Music' at Plymouth Musicians Cooperative (PMC) now & which will feature a version of "THE MAMMOTH". All three members have been involved in making music in and around Plymouth for a few years now, Neil and Al played together in Mr Pound, a punk/rock quartet which also featured Jon Cooper who has gone on to play guitar in The Bedroom Project and Foz who now plays drums for Grifter. Neil also played guitar in The Once Over Twice and Marc has played drums in many bands including most notably 24/7 City Blueprint and Full Speed Alone, but the trio collectively concur that Consolation Prizefighter is becoming their most accomplished work to date and as a promise, attend to pushing their boundaries as far as their instruments and talents will permit, for as long as they have good health, a hale and hearty passion and a want to play/write music together. If you would like to book us, we're pretty much up for playing anywhere ie sheds, kitchens, basements! Would be very much appreciated. Just shout us some diesel money.
