Joker are a four piece
indie rock band. Originally formed in April 2003 with
Dave Ryder taking over the bass in Aug 03 and Chris
Brian joining in February 04. This completes the line
up with Gary Adin on vocals/rhythm guitar and Andy
Dunlop on drums.
We play predominantly contemporary covers by the most popular bands including Artic Monkeys, Starsailor, Stereophonics, Kaiser Chiefs, Greenday and Snow Patrol as well as several original tracks mixed in. We endeavour to add a new track every few weeks to ensure the set remains up to date and fresh.
We have played every single venue in Plymouth capable of hosting live music and average 45-50 gigs per year throughout the south west of England and stretching as far as Southampton.
Some of the most memorable gigs to date include Lord Mayors day, the National fireworks competition gigs on the Hoe, playing in front of over 3,500 people at the Kingsbridge fairweek festival and the infamous three gigs in one day. However by far or best venue must be the Hub, Bath St. Plymouth’s only dedicated live music venue with amazing sound system, plasma screens, chill out rooms and cheap beer! What more could you ask for?
We regularly play at popular music venues including the Junction, Mutley Plain and The Brook, Plympton with both venues being full to capacity and queuing for those arriving late.
Our website has helped spread the word with in excess of 20,000 hits and rising. We have been reviewed several times by the Evening Herald and also featured in the launch of Plymouth’s Vanquish magazine and on local radio. Our fan base is constantly growing and we have gained recognition on international radio 1. Details of these reviews are on this website.
Our performance will typically include two sets lasting approximately 2 ½ hours. Our sound system comprises of 3,500 watts of power and includes stage lighting, dry ice and strobe effects.
In all the time we have been together we have been gigging virtually non stop and therefore we have only had the opportunity on one occasion to go into the studio. We were invited by Deep Blue Sound to help out with the final year student projects on their “re-record a classic” theme. As per their request we laid down “Live Forever” by Oasis which also can be heard on the site. We also have a live version of Spider (original track) with accompanying video recorded at the Hub. We have a number of original songs which are due to be recorded and released on an EP in the near future.
